A story that came about during the era where the daimyo was always changing.

In the western entrance to the nametsu waterfall area, heading east there is a 2m tall jizo. This jizo is wearing something like a princess would wear, a long sleeved kimono, and from when we don't know, but it started being called the furisode jizo. The story behind it is during the era where the daimyo lords where changing, a daimyo was heading towards edo, on his travels he saw a beautiful lady, after that he was unable to forget this woman for a long time, after living in Edo for over a year, he walked down this path one more time on his travels home, he searched for the woman only to learn that she had died. The daimyo felt a great amount of sadness, and as a memorial to the woman, he created this jizo in the image of her. It is said that the jizo to the west and the jizo to the east are lovers.
